The first time I held a paint brush I had a powerful sense that this was going to be the journey of a lifetime. From that point forward I have continued to find pure joy in not only the laying out of objects for my still life work, but more importantly, the laying down of color on the canvas to create what I see beyond what is obvious. The manipulation of color and finding just the right brush stroke to bring a sense of calmness, light, and rest to my work is the goal of my painting. Looking beyond the strokes of color on my canvas, I hope the viewer will sense a connection between what is seen and what is imagined.
I truly believe that art should be about beauty: a beauty that is first created through the eyes of the painter and then translated through the eyes of an admirer.
Having recently moved to the colorful Rocky Mountain area, I am anxious to take my work outdoors and paint the ever-abundant moving life before me through working en plein air and searching for those fleeting moments of color to capture on canvas!
