Artist's Statement

I have loved exploring and expressing myself artistically since I was a small child. First I LOVED drawing and discovered LINE. Then I became an intaglio printmaker and discovered VALUE. Then when I had young children turned to the ease and mobility of pastels and discovered COLOR. All along I taught art and continued to discover PEOPLE.

What a journey! I paint form and pattern with expressive color. I am a voyeur and love seeing and interpreting how people live their lives. I have traveled the world, Japan, France, Central America, Mexico driven by my artistic observations. I have found color sitting and painting in the corner small-town cafes, busy markets, temples, the shade of Roman aqueducts, and quiet gardens. I am always influenced by the vastness of the beauty of the West and I carry that with me wherever I go.
