Artist's Statement

Kathy collects interesting subjects from antique stores around New England and ornates them with the flowers from her gardens to paint in her classic yet painterly old-master style. I paint old objects that interest me. They must posses a certain personality, to catch my attention.

Her affection for these subjects are evident in her delicate paintings. She paints roses with rich colors and yet such softness that they glow. The surface of the porcelain and gold trim shines while showing all the character of it's age. These are paintings of timeless beauty.

“The softness of a bouquet of pale pink English roses in and around a shimmering ceramic vase with delicate gold trim.” These are images that consume my thoughts as I care for my gardens...Oh, the possibilities are endless.

"A Quiet Corner"

A gathering of English roses from my garden abundant in an art deco vase. Old books waiting to be read as you enjoy the fragrance of the bouquet and witness the gradual opening of the buds. This painting created a quiet corner, one I would cherish sitting in.

"A Promise Kept"

This is a very strong, large painting of scattered yellow roses around antique dishes reflecting on a red table. These roses demand your attention with their presence.
