Artist's Statement

Born in Chicago, Illinois, Carolyne Hawley has spent most of her adult life in the Southern California desert, which has become a major factor in contributing to an acclaimed collection of Western influence paintings, including the powerful interpretations of horses for which she is known.

Additional subjects include landscapes, gardens and figurative, rendered with the distinct style of Carolyne Hawley. With previous exhibits in major galleries throughout the United States, garnering top awards, Carolyne is presently exhibiting at the Richard Danskin Gallery on El Paseo in Palm Desert, CA, and the online galleries of Appaloosa Journal Magazine and 101 Arabian Horses. Commissioned paintings of Ronald Reagan and Sonny Bono are displayed at city hall in Palm Springs, CA and commissioned murals appear in the city hall of Indian Wells, CA and Darr Eye Clinic in Palm Desert, CA. Publications include the Arabian National Show in Louisville, KY; feature articles in Art West magazine and Palm Springs Life magazine, and a cover for Appaloosa Journal. Carolyne’s artwork is reproduced and published by McGaw Graphics of New York, and Leanin’ Tree of Boulder, CO.

Carolyne has participated in numerous renowned shows, including Southwest Arts Festival, Palm Springs Museum, Scottsdale and National Arabian Shows, and Oil Painters of America. Participation the past five years at the International Date Festival competition in Indio, CA has resulted in Best of Show honors and People’s Choice awards.

Carolyne resides on a small ranch in the high desert rural community of Morongo Valley, CA where she paints in her studio and teaches in the Palm Springs area.
