Artist's Statement

In the solitary act of painting the artist transfers pictorial language into a visual statement.  Nature is the lifeblood for any serious landscape plein air painter and it has inspired countless artists, especially during and after the Impressionist period. Artists sought inspiration from their environment and recorded the fleeting changes of light and weather in a tradition that continues to the present.  This is what inspires me, to spend time observing and recording those fleeting moments. Direct observation of nature informs my work whether painted en plein air or in the studio. I hope my work becomes a window into my love and impressions of our beautiful world.
