Born and raised in Montana, Mary has the background
and knowledge of her western subject matter. She was commissioned
to do two monuments of Sacajawea for cities along the Lewis and
Clark trail, unanimously chosen out of 26 artists from across the
U.S. Using her gift from God, Mary fine tunes it by taking classes
and workshops from artists she admires. “We are always learning
and growing in our art, if you can’t improve, you might as
well hang it up.”
Not just creating a representational sculpture, Mary puts art,
balance, composition, and design in her pieces. You feel the tension
of the muscles, the softness of an eye. She has won numerous awards
on her art in many juried and invitational shows.
Mary is currently enjoying doing commissioned busts of people. “The
challenge is great, it sure keeps me on my toes!” |
