“ Being outdoors as a part of the landscape while painting feeds my soul and gives my work a quality that can’t be obtained any other way.”
Amy Evans lives in Breckenridge, Colorado, where she may be found painting outdoors alongside a rushing mountain stream, quiet alpine lake, or a wildflower meadow. Plein air painting is her passion. It combines her love of nature with her love of art. She finds that each painting day is an adventure, whether it is the changing weather or an unexpected animal visit.
Amy paints in oils. Her plein air pieces are known for the subtle color that she sees in nature as well as her expressive brushwork. Her studio pieces are created from her outdoor studies and also capture the sense of the moment. Collectors have remarked that her work doesn't shout at you. It is quiet and serene.
Amy holds a B.A. with Distinction in Art from Rhodes College, Memphis, TN. She has also studied at the Art Students League of Denver, CO. and the former Taos Institute of Art, Taos, NM. She has been an art instructor for middle and high school students as well as adults. |
