Amy’s love of painting began as a child growing up in Shreveport, Louisiana. Teachers and her parents encouraged her talent. At the age of eight she took private lessons from the late Elizabeth Friedburg and continued to study art throughout her high school years. Amy received a B.A. with Distinction (Cum Laude) in Art at Rhodes College, Memphis , TN.
Amy’s paintings have been in exhibits and galleries in Arizona, California, Colorado, Illinois, Mississippi, North Carolina, New Mexico, Texas, Wyoming, and Virginia. Her work is also in private and corporate collections throughout the United States. She has also received many awards for her paintings. The most recent is the acceptance of a painting into the 2014 Art for the Parks as well as two honorable mentions.
Amy is also an art instructor and conducts regular workshops in the Breckenridge CO Arts District as well as other art centers throughout the country. She is also a juror for art shows and was one of the jurors for the 2013 International Snow Sculpture Competition in Breckenridge.
She is Past President and signature emeritus member of Women Artists of the West, a signature member of Plein Air Artists of Colorado, a member of the American Impressionist Society, invited artist member of the former Nomadas del Artes, and a charter and founding member of the Piedmont Outdoor Painting Society, based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
