“Beauty abounds in this world God created. Most of us don’t take the time to see much of it.” Julie Gowing Hayes is especially drawn to light and shadows and their effect on the color and appearance of objects. She likes to share impressions of things most people don’t see in the everyday. She prefers to paint from life, but for her birds and animals, Hayes relies on her reference photos and the memory of her actual experience. Her mediums are oil and watercolor.
Julie grew up on a small farm in southwest Iowa where her parents taught her to appreciate nature. She spent much of her time exploring, drawing and painting what she saw all around her. Hayes currently works from her studio in beautiful northwest Arkansas..
Julie Gowing Hayes is a member of Artists of NW Arkansas, Heart of America Artists Association, Missouri Valley Impressionist Society, Plein Air Painters of the Ozarks, associate member of Women Artists of the West and a charter and founding member of Piedmont Outdoor Painting Society. Julie currently has gallery representation by Cherry’s Art Emporium in Carthage, Missouri and Get Framed in Shenandoah, Iowa.
