I have painted and drawn for the last 35+ years. I studied painting at Yale University and earned my MFA at the Maryland Institute, College of Art. In the last 10 years I have been a landscape painter focusing on the landscape of the American Southwest.
I visited the Southwest for 20 years and always painted some landscapes while visiting. In 1997 I moved to Denver and since then I have indulged my passion for the Southwestern landscape. I love the southwest, especially the desert and mountains.
I hike regularly and sketch in the mountains and parks near Denver. A few times a year I travel to places like Moab, or Canyon de Chelly to hike and sketch. I sometimes take a French easel and paint directly in acrylics but mostly I use a small portable watercolor kit to paint outdoors and do quick studies. I take photos and then for months I am inspired and motivated by these sketches and photos in the studio.
