Artist's Statement

Ellie attended UCLA, earning a B.F.A. with Honors. After a career in  graphic design and raising a family, she returned to her first love painting.

Freudenstein paints 'en plein air'. Her chosen media are oil and watercolor.  Her paintings are richly colored with a great sense of movement, energy, and emotion.  Today, she works in  her studio and in the field doing studies in Italy, France, and in the central coast near Santa Barbara, Ca.

Ellie is often asked to teach workshops for various art societies and private groups.

"Spring Garden"

I painted this in a small secluded garden in Carmel  last spring. I loved the dappled light shinning on the flowers and walls.
