Artist's Statement

A daughter of a career military family, I was born in Southern California, raised on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and lived periodically around the world. It would be in the early 90's when my dream finally came true and I was able to settle permanently back on my beloved Mississippi Gulf Coast! That's where my sculpting career would begin... as a "divine" accident late in the summer of 1992...it would be the start of the most incredible journey of both mind and spirit for me!

As a professional photographer for many years, this unforeseen path was a magical awakening, allowing me the privilege of experiencing life and the world around me in a new and profound way. As a self taught artist, I've delighted in the experience of the "art of imagination"... where it has taken me has been life altering!

I'm very honored to have been accepted so warmly by both the world of art and my peers and look forward to the next path on my journey and where it may lead me…

A master miniaturist and avid medallic sculptor, my work is both shown and collected in selected International exhibitions, major fine art shows and galleries throughout the US and abroad. I'm extremely privileged to have been elected as a member to many prestigious art organizations and continue to exhibit annually. These affiliations have been such an important part of my art career...starting with my first membership to California's WOMEN ARTISTS of the WEST, now an emeritus member, I held the position of International Show Chair and WAOW executive director from 1996 thru 1998.

Other notable elected memberships, both past and present include the following:
• ROYAL MINIATURE SOCIETY of London England / Royal Patron, Prince Charles /elected
• MINIATURE PAINTERS, SCULPTORS & GRAVERS SOCIETY, Washington,DC /elected
• NATIONAL ASSOCIATION of WOMEN ARTISTS Inc., New York, NY /elected
• AMERICAN MEDALLIC SCULPTURE ASSOCIATION, Edmond, Washington /invited
• WOMEN ARTIST of the WEST, California, emeritus member /elected

"...Art for me truly is and always will be considered both my special "gift and blessing!"

One of my very favorite pieces to create is my beloved COSMO and all his friends, he is of course, the "man in the moon" and what a tale he has to tell...this piece is titled  "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star"  and shows him with his dear little friends, Twink the tiny star that loves him so and the starfish Ariel making her "wish upon the first star I see tonight"…which always make for such a giggle after a long evening gathering stardust from the Milky Way to "sprinkle the stars so they can twinkle" a visit with best friends is always the best way to end the day!

Dimensions: 4”h x 1-1/2”w x 2-1/2”d including 2”x2”x2” black marble base

I  hope these pieces bring the viewers as many smiles looking at them as they did for me while creating them...as Cosmo would say, this is indeed my "purpose" and both my "gift & blessing"

Back View of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

This version shows the starfish Ariel making her "wish upon the first star I see tonight"…which always make for such a giggle after a long evening gathering stardust from the Milky Way to "sprinkle the stars so they can twinkle" a visit with best friends is always the best way to end the day!

Ariel has many sisters, and Twink has endless friends... if you just look up in the evening sky... they will all wink back at you…and don’t forget to make  a wish!
